Jennifer Fredrick has announced her candidacy for Illinois’ 36th State Senate District, which is currently represented by Mike Halpin. The election for the Senate seat will not take place until 2026, but Fredrick shares her reasons for running:
“What got me into running was the FAMILY acronym; F for Farmers, A for Affordability, M for Military, I for Involvement, L for Labor, and Y for Your Voice in Government. Farmers were scared to put some seed in the ground and scared to break even. I just don’t know how we let it get here for our farmers because if we don’t have farmers, we don’t have food. I think farming is our huge focus when it comes to this campaign. Law enforcement, they constantly are threatened on defunding law enforcement. I just think that we should leave the defunding alone and really see more funding going their way. We really, really need affordable housing and affordable energy. And we have got to lower property taxes.”
Fredrick currently serves on the Knox County Board and is the Treasurer of the Young Republicans.
