The Monmouth-Roseville Titans baseball team snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 6 to 4 victory over a solid Putnam County squad on Saturday. Landyn Angelo led the way for Monmouth-Roseville, making a major impact both on the mound and at the plate. Angelo earned the pitching win, tossing 4.2 innings and allowing just four runs. Offensively, he went 2 for 4 and drove in two key runs to help the Titans secure the win. Monmouth-Roseville will have two more games on the schedule this week before postseason play begins. They’ll hit the road Thursday to face a strong Farmington team, then return home Friday to host Annawan-Wethersfield in their regular season finale. The Titans will enjoy the weekend off to get ready for the regional quarterfinal matchup, where they’ll travel to face the Mercer County Golden Eagles on Monday. The two schools split their 2-game TRAC West Division series, with the Titans winning the first match up at home 4-2 and the Golden Eagles coming back late to win the second meeting 9-8 in extra innings. Head Coach Mike Huston is confident in the 3rd matchup between the two and believes his team is ready.
Should the 10th seeded Titans advance past 9th seeded Mercer County, they’ll return to Sunny Lane Field for a regional semifinal showdown against the 2nd seeded Sherrard Tigers on Wednesday.
