Ruth Eloise Taylor, age 93, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at Goldwater Care Roseville, on Tuesday May 20, 2025 at 6:17 pm. Eloise was born on December 1, 1931 in Monmouth and is the daughter of Wilbur W. and Mabel Evelyn Swanson Rutledge. She was raised in Monmouth where she attended local grade schools and graduated from Monmouth High School 1949. Ruth Eloise married LeRoy H. “Pete” Taylor on July 28, 1950 and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1991. Ruth’s first three years of employment was at Formfit Company in Monmouth after which she was the office manager for H.I.A. Blue Cross Blue Shield for a number of years. She also was an active member of the Marion B. Fletcher 136 Auxillary for twenty-nine years. Eloise loved the game of golf and played regularly and in the leagues at Gibson Woods Golf Course. She lastly was receptionist for the Maple City Business and Technology Center her in Monmouth, until her retirement. She is survived by her daughter, Denise Olson of Alexis, Illinois and her grandson, Patrick Olson in Orion, Illinois. There are three great grandchildren, Emily Olson of Bettendorf, IA, Brayden Olson of Orion, Illinois, and Doug Vander Hyden from Lakeland, FL. Ruth’s brother also is surviving, David Rutledge of Monmouth, Illinois. There are a number of nieces and nephew that also survive.
As were her wishes, Turnbull Funeral is in charge of her care and cremation is to be accorded. A gathering of her family and friends is being planned by her family at a later date. Interment of her ashes will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for Marion B. Fletcher Post 136 American Legion.
