Stamping Out Hunger One Mailbox at a Time

This Saturday, May 10th marks the 32nd anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Locally, non-perishable food items left at mailboxes will benefit the Jamieson Community Center Food Pantry, explains United States Postal Service Letter Carrier Amanda Schneider:

“This is the largest food drive in the nation. We do it in one day. We are out there in the neighborhood collecting food while we also deliver the mail. It is just great for the community. All the proceeds go to the Jamieson Community Center. It stays local. You can just put your non-perishable, in-date, we stress that we need the products to be in-date, in your mailbox.”

Over the course of the Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, Schneider reports over 1.9 billion pounds of food has been collected in the United States.
