Story by Parker Cassidy
Minus the covid-canceled season of 2020, the United Red Storm baseball team is heading to their 6th consecutive class 1A regional championship game after a dominating win over the West Prairie in Wednesday’s semifinal. The Red Storm bested the Cyclones in 6 innings, 11-1. United was backed by great offensive performances from Wyatt Stockdale and Zeke Clark, who each went 2-for-4 at the plate. On the mound, Tanner Rodgers was electric. The senior threw a complete game, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out 10 batters in his six innings of work. The Red Storm now set their sights on a familiar foe, Abingdon-Avon, for the Regional Championship game on Saturday in Stronghurst. The two teams split their regular season series 1-1, setting the stage for a high-stakes rubber match. Head Coach of the United Red Storm, Ryan Molek, previews the matchup.
