The 20th MDS Shootout is set to tip off this weekend at the Huff Athletic Center on the Monmouth College Campus. The shootout is one of the premier summer basketball tournaments in Illinois, drawing teams from all across Illinois and a few out-of-state schools. Games will be played on five different courts in the “Huff” starting at 9:30 Saturday morning and running throughout the afternoon on Sunday. The Director of the MDS Shootout, Mark Sandstrom, is currently the head coach at Columbia High School. Sandstrom played high school basketball in Roseville and continued his career at Monmouth College. He shares what teams to expect to see in town this weekend.
Sandstrom was recently inducted into the IBCA Hall of Fame in May and was also enshrined in the Monmouth-Roseville Hall of Achievement over the winter. For the full interview with Coach Sandstrom go to the SPORTS PODCAST section.
