Macomb High School has officially hired some new coaches for the upcoming school year. Justin Elbe has been named the varsity girls basketball head coach, Kelly Ingersoll will take over the varsity boys soccer program and Hillary Humes will be the new varsity volleyball head coach.
Elbe replaces Jackson Kane, who resigned the position following his 4th season as head coach this past winter. Kane won 70 games in his four years at the helm. The Bomber girls won 21 games this past season, which is the most wins in one season since 2008.
Hillary Humes was most recently the Macomb Bomber 8th grade head volleyball coach. Humes guided the 8th grade Bombers to a record of (23-2) in 2025 and was eventually beaten by Morton in the sectional championship match. She’ll be taking over a program that was (31-5) in 2024. Briana Rexroat stepped down following the season. Rexroat won 247 matches in her ten seasons leading the Bombers. Rexroat was recently hired as the head volleyball coach at Hempstead High School in Dubuque, Iowa, where her husband landed a job in the area last year.
Kelly Ingersoll is a senior minister at First Christian Church in Macomb. The Bomber boys soccer squad won three matches in the fall of 2024.
