Several Monmouth-Area Athletes Named to ICA Softball All-State Team

The ICA, or Illinois Coaches Association, has released their class 1A and 2A softball all-state teams. The organization has long been known as the high school softball experts around the state of Illinois. Looking at the ICA final regular season rankings, seven of the eight teams that made it to the final four of the 1A and 2A tournaments were ranked in the top-20, with the eighth team receiving votes.

Class 1A champ, Carrollton was ranked #2 in the final poll, as was the class 2A champ, Beecher in that final poll. Looking at area players on the class 1A all-state team, West Central’s Addie Seitz, A-Town’s Taylor Ford, Ridgewood’a Gabby Dean all were named the first team. West Central’s Miley Stimpson and Becca Hinshaw and Ridgewood’s Ella Humphrey were named to the class 1A second team. West Central’s Lilly Higgins, A-Town’s Emma Gunther, Ridgewood’s Mackenzie Peck and Avery Humphrey and ROWVA/Williamsfield’s Emma West and Ella Rigg were all named to the 1A third team.

In class 2A, Brimfield/Elmwood’s Sawyer Drury was selected to the first team. Knoxville’s Lexi Harshbarger and Jasmine Peppers, Mercer County’s Natalie Thompson, Brimfield/Elmwood’s Kendyl Binder, Rockridge’s Taylor Dieterich, Sherrard’s Savanah Hauger and Makenzy Moran were second team selections. Knoxville had a pair of girls make the third team in Emma Racke and Emma Way. Rockridge had three girls on the third team in Emilee Black, Madelyn David and Charley Perkins. They were joined by Sherrard’s Nadia Anderson and Makensie Westfall.

Class 3A and 4A will be released next week.
