The city of Jacksonville was the site of a suspected tornado on Wednesday afternoon. The Future Champions Sports Complex saw severe damage from the storm. Fences were knocked over and dugouts were destroyed, with much of the city without power. According to news reports, the complex’s training building located across the street from the fields was ripped in half. The complex is host to a plethora of baseball and softball tournaments throughout the spring, summer and fall, including tournaments that were scheduled to take place this weekend. The tournaments bring in teams from across the Tri-States. In an update on the Future Champions Sports Complex Facebook page, the tournaments scheduled for this weekend will still be held with a new schedule that includes Saturday and Sunday-only games at various sites around the city of Jacksonville. Cleanup at Future Champions begins today and the owners, Adam and Kristin Jamison, put out a request for anyone able to lend a hand to meet in the main parking lot.
