The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 133 Edwards Avenue yesterday evening, Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:42 p.m. The response included all three stations and the 11 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered an unattached single-car garage fully engulfed in flames. Battalion Chief Matt Cain established command, and the Fremont Street fire crew extinguished the fire with an attack hose line. The home sustained damage to the exterior of the structure. No injuries to fire personnel or occupants were reported.
An emergency callback of off-duty personnel was initiated to provide emergency coverage to the city. The garage is considered a total loss. The cause of the fire was unintentional.
