The Illinois State Police have released their 2024 annual crime report. In past years, the report separated statistics for the City of Monmouth Police Department and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. This year, the report combines data from those two agencies along with the Alexis Police Department into one report. Warren County Sheriff Martin Edwards shares some statistics from the 2024 report.
“But interestingly, our crime index, or the density, is 2.44 per 1000, so we live in a relatively crime free area. Now locally, I was looking at our numbers last year in 2024 our leading category was burglaries, with 21 reported, and this year, we’re up to 11 already, so we’re kind of on track for having the same number.”
Sheriff Edwards also noted that criminal damage and aggravated assaults ranked second and third respectively in the report. Additionally, there was an increase in sexual assault cases, with three more reported in 2024 compared to 2023.
