The 2025 Warren County Agricultural Fair concluded Saturday after a successful week of events. This year’s fair held added significance, as it was dedicated in memory of Van Adkisson, a longtime supporter and auctioneer.
Lynn Shimmin, Livestock Superintendent, said a special presentation was made Friday to Adkisson’s family in honor of his years of service.
“Unfortunately, last year, our auctions here at the fair were his next-to-last auctions that he ever did, and so we dedicated the fair, and [Friday] we had a presentation to his family of the dedication and a thank you for his service throughout his life,” shares Shimmin.
Adkisson helped put on the 4-H Livestock Premium Auction for years, explains Thad Tharp of Tharp Auction Service, who led this year’s auction.
“I was very honored and proud to be asked to go down and do that. You know, Van Adkisson had done that for years and years and years, and this was his first year not being there, sadly,” says Tharp. “So as proud as I was, I didn’t want to be there for that reason, but it was a great event. Great turnout. The buyers did an awesome job supporting the kids and the exhibitors. So I think we had a very successful premium auction for the Warren County exhibitors.”
This year, 32 exhibitors took part in the 4-H Livestock Premium Auction.
