The City of Monmouth has been awarded a $400,000 grant from the Illinois Housing Development Authority, which will be available to eligible homeowners for repairs and accessibility improvements, explains City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher:
“It is under a program that is called the Home Repair and Accessibility Program. These are funds that are only available to qualified income families, classified as low/moderate income households. It does include various home repairs but primarily focuses on roof replacements and accessibility if there are any handicap status within household to make the home accessible. The maximum amount of loan or grant to each homeowner is limited to $50,000. We are estimating that about eight to nine houses that are owned by qualified income families would be eligible for these funds.”
Funds to eligible homeowners from this Illinois Housing Development Authority grant will be administered through the Western Illinois Regional Council.
