As the construction continues to push forward in Downtown Monmouth, Mayor Rod Davies shares the preparation steps leading up to the Maple City Street Machines Cruise Night:

“They are working on the center square right now, working on some things we are going to get ready and get done before the car show. We are holding up on the demolition of Market Alley until after the car show. They are going to clean up all the areas in the downtown, do some sweeping on the roads, and just get these quadrants cleaned out and opened up. Also, the streets will be open in all four directions for the car show, so there will just be that small, compacted gravel area in front of Market Alley so folks can move around and continue to take advantage of our merchants on Market Alley.”

Following the Cruise Night, demolition and reconstruction of Market Alley will occur, as well as a new curb around the outside of the center circle, the remaining work in the southeast quadrant, milling of the roadways, and laying the new blacktop.
