The Galesburg American Legion Post 285 baseball team is now (14-3) overall and won their 9th game in their last 10 after beating Moline Post 246 4-3 last night in Moline. Galesburg broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the top of the 5th and then held on from there. Ian Leffler got the pitching win for Galesburg, going four innings, giving up five hits and no earned runs with two strikeouts. Tyree Taylor gets the save, pitching the final inning. Lance Baker pitched the middle two innings, with two strikeouts. Offensively, each team had nine hits, with Galesburg led by Miles Hoops and Brandon Bruington having two hits each. All four hits by both players were doubles. Owen Timmons had the big hit in the 5th with a 2-out, 2-run single. The two teams will meet again on Saturday for a double header at Knox College’s baseball field in Galesburg, with game one starting at 11am.
