A hot Wednesday at the Henderson County Fair kicked off the 4-H and Junior Sheep show. The show kicked off with the breeding show. 

Breeding Show Results 

Hampshire: In the Junior and 4-H show, the Champion Ram Lamb in the Hampshire show was exhibited by Cooper Gibb. Gibbons also exhibited the champion Ewe Lamb. 

Dorset: In the Junior and 4-H show, the Champion Dorset Ram Lamb was exhibited by Ruby Gittings. Champion Dorset Ewe was exhibited by Ruby Gittings and Reserve by Jacqueline Evans. 

Southdown: In the Junior and 4-H show, the Champion and Reserve Champion Southdown were exhibited by Cora Livermore. 

All other Breeds: The Champion and Reserve Champion AOB were exhibited by Dayne Gittings. 

Crossbred:  In the Junior and 4-H Ram Crossbred show, Addie Haynes exhibited the Champion and Nolan Forbes exhibited the Reserve Champion. In the Crossbred Ewe 4-H show, the champion was exhibited by Cooper Gibb. The Reserve was exhibited by Cora Livermore. 

In the Crossbred Ewe Junior show, the champion was exhibited by Dayne Gittings. The Reserve was exhibited by Addie Haynes. 

Breeding Show Grand Champions

The 4-H and Junior Grand Champion Ram went to Hampshire, exhibited by Cooper Gibb, and the Reserve went to Ruby Gittings and her Dorset. 

The champions of the 4-H and Junior Ewe show returned to the ring to compete for the Grand Champion title and their tickets to compete at The Throwdown, a Western Illinois Showdown on August 2nd. The 4-H Grand Champion went to Dayne Gittings and his AOB Ewe. The Reserve Champion Ewe went to Cooper Gibb and his Hampshire.

“The show went really well for me and my buddy Dayne Gittings. We started off with the purebreds, and we came out right away with a solo entry, and we won that, and then we brought in a couple more lambs,” shares Gibb. “It was a really good day overall, winning, and just between having a good time while still competing at a pretty high level, we’re just blessed to be here doing it.”

Market Show Results

Four weight classes of market lambs were exhibited at the Henderson County Fair. 

In Class One, Kadence Grafton and her 106-pound lamb placed first, with Jacque Evans placing second with her 106-pound lamb. 

In Class Two, first place went to Cooper Gibbons and his 127-pound lamb. Second place went to Austyn Aden and his 108 lamb. 

In Class Three, first place went to Dayne Gittings and his 130-pound lambs, and second place went to Emerson Forbes and her 136-pound lambs. 

In Class Four, first place went to Dayne Gittings and his 145-pound lamb, and second place went to Nolan Forbes and his 144-pound Lamb.

Market Show Grand Champions

The champions of the 4-H and Junior Market Lamb show returned to the ring to compete for Grand Champion title and their tickets to compete at The Throwdown, a Western Illinois Showdown on August 2nd. The 4-H Grand Champion went to Dayne Gittings. Reserve Champion Ewe went to Cooper Gibb.
