The Goat Show kicked off Wednesday afternoon following the conclusion of the sheep show.
Dairy Goat Results
In the 4-8 month class, Addie Haynes exhibited the first-place 4-H and Junior doe. Bella Pepper exhibits the second-place 4-H animal, and Haynes had the second-place Junior animal.
In the 12 -24 month class, Addie Haynes exhibited the first-place 4-H and Junior doe.
In the 2+ year class, Addie Haynes exhibited the first-place 4-H and Junior doe.
The Champion of the 4-H and Junior Dairy Show was Addie Haynes. The 4-H Reserve Champion was exhibited by Bella Pepper, and the Junior Reserve Champion was exhibited by Haynes.
Meat Goat Results
In the Meat Billy show, Ruby Gittings exhibited the 4-H and Junior Champion Billy Meat Goat. Haley Daugherty exhibited the Reserve Champion in the Junior Show.
There were four classes of meat does that showed at the Henderson County Fair on Wednesday.
In Class One, in first place of the Junior show went to Haley Daugherty with her 45-pound doe; second went to Kenadie Webster with her 59-pound doe.
In Class Two, Ruby Gittings received first place in the Junior and 4-H show with her 96-pound doe. Haley Daugherty was second place in the Junior show with her 88-pound doe.
In Class Three, Ruby Gittings received first place in the Junior and 4-H show with her 116-pound doe. Haley Daugherty was second place in the Junior show with her 88-pound doe.
In Class Four, Dayne Gittings received first place in the Junior and 4-H show with his 176-pound doe. Haley Daugherty was second place in the Junior show with her 163-pound doe.
Grand Champion Goat
The Grand Champion Meat Goat Female of both the 4-H and Junior show went to Ruby Gittings, punching her ticket to The Throwdown, a Western Illinois Showdown on August 2nd.. Ruby also exhibited the 4-H and Junior show Reserve Champion female.
Ruby also exhibited the 4-H Grand Champion Wether- punching her ticket to the Throwdown in the Wether division.
“Other goals that I have are hopefully growing them out as yearlings and having them keep their potential as they get older. Hopefully you’ll see them at the fair again next year, and I’m hoping to expand my breeding crew this year as well,” says Gittings. ” My mom and I make the breeding decisions. We’re still pretty co together. We look for breeding characteristics, how maternal they look, if they have a good pattern, or long-bodied, clean-necked, other stuff like that.”
