The Henderson County Health Department, in partnership with the University of Illinois Extension, is asking all residents and workers in Henderson County to complete the Community Needs Assessment Survey. This survey will help the health department update its five-year strategic plan, known as the I Plan, which is required by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Michelle Kim, Community and Economic Development Educator at Illinois Extension, shares more details about the I Plan and what kinds of questions participants can expect to see on the survey.
“The I plan is a living, breathing document. It’s not something that’s going to go sit on the shelf, but it is something that sets the stage for the next five years in terms of priorities for the health department. So it helps the health department identify programming areas and potential partnerships for the five year period. The survey is really easy. They’re all multiple choice questions. They’re all based on either your opinion or your personal circumstances. You’ll answer questions about demographics. You might answer a question about the last time you visited a doctor or a dentist, where you go if you’re not feeling well. But it could also ask, how often you exercise? How many fruits and vegetables do you eat in a week or a day? The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete, from start to finish, and like I said, it’s all multiple choice, so it’s very easy to navigate.”
The survey must be completed by Friday, July 18. To participate online, visit go.illinois.edu/hendersonhealthsurvey. Paper copies are also available at the Illinois Extension Office in Stronghurst and the Henderson County Health Department in Gladstone.
