To wrap up a week of livestock shows at the Henderson County Fair, cattle showmen entered the ring Thursday for both the Junior and 4-H shows..
Results of the Heifer Show
Angus: In the Angus division, Linny Corzatt and her Junior Yearling were Champion, and Curtis Randal received Reserve Champion Angus with her junior yearling.
Shorthorn: In the Shorthorn division, Blake Ricketts exhibited the champion heifer.
Simmental: In the Simmental division, Jolie Johnson and her summer yearling exhibited the champion heifer. Tucker Corzatt with his summer yearling was the reserve champion.
All other Breeds: Alexia Kane exhibited the
Crossbred: In the crossbred division, Michael Gipe and his junior yearling heifer were named Champion Crossbred, and Jordan Kane exhibited the reserve.
“My name is Michael Gipe, cattle showman, and I show here at Henderson County Fair, and my two calves’ names are Bertha and Bob,” shares Gipe. “I won some pink ribbons, some purple ribbons, all kinds of ribbons. Then I got an auction picture, and I got a grand champion steer over here. I won the Champion Crossbred Heifer, Champion Native Heifer, Reserve Champion, and Steer Champion Native Steer. Reserve Champion Steer.”
Gipe is a first-year cattle showman and 4-H member. He shares that his goal for the next year is to improve his showmanship skills with the tips he learned at this year’s fair.

Grand Champion Female
Following the breed divisions, each Champion returned to the ring to compete for the Grand Champion Female title and to represent Henderson County at the Throwdown, a Western Illinois Throwdown on August 2. Lenny Corzatt and her Angus earned the Grand Champion Female title. Reserve went to Jolie Johnson and her Simmental.
Results of the Steer Show
There were six classes of steers entered the ring on Thursday morning. The First Place Steers from each class were:
Class One: Jackson Smith with his 915-pound steer.
Class Two: Forrest Lefler and his 1055 pound steer.
Class Three: Curtis Randall and his 1110-pound steer.

Class 4: Tyler Rickets and his 1290-pound steer.
Class 5: Linney Corzatt and her 1435-pound steer.
Class 6: Isaac Mohr and his 1560-pound steer.
Grand Champion Steer
Following the weight classes, each winner returned to the ring to compete for the Grand Champion Steer title and to represent Henderson County at the Throwdown, a Western Illinois Throwdown on August 2. Tyler Rickets and his steer from Class 4 earned the Grand Champion Steer title. Reserve went to Michael Gipe and his second-place steer from Class 4.
