“I pick all my pigs out myself, just going from barn to barn, picking out my own pigs in the hopes of doing great like I did today,” says Johnson. “And there’s some at home that are too small, you know, fall pigs, so we decided not to bring them.”

Laney McLaughlin exhibited the first-place Duroc barrow. Kaylee Michael had first place in Hampshire. Hannah Thompson exhibited the first-place Spot barrow. “I just got some great feedback from her, how good he’s done and how much potential he has in the future,” says Thompson. “I’ve heard a lot of that from all these other judges, so I’m excited to see how he keeps getting better.”

In the Crossbred show, there were six classes of barrows. The 4-H and Junior Champion crossbred barrow was exhibited by Rose Leary and Reserve Champion to Hannah Thompson.
