Friday morning junior shows at the Warren County Agricultural Fair kicked off with the Junior Swine Show, starting off with the Barrow Show.
Results of the Junior Barrow Show
There were three divisions of barrows shown on Friday morning: Light, Middle, and Heavy Weight.
The lightweight champion was exhibited by Aubrey Killey and Hannah Thompson exhibited reserve. Jolie Johnson exhibited the middleweight champion, and the reserve went to Wyatt Michael. The heavyweight champion went to Hayven Byers, and the reserve went to Aubrey Killey.
Byers Wins Overall Champion Barrow
At the conclusion of the weight divisions, the weight class champions returned to the ring for the selection of the Overall Champion. Hayven Byers and her heavyweight barrow were selected as the Grand Champion Overall of the Barrow show. Aubrey Killey and her heavyweight were selected as Reserve Grand Champion Overall of the Barrow show.
This is the second year Bysers has shown pigs. She shares what she learned in year one to help her improve her showmanship in year two.
“I learned to drive,” says Byers. “I really needed to work on that. I learned to have fun, and learned that when someone wins, all of us win.
Results of the Gilt Show
Three divisions of Purebred gilts were exhibited during the Junior Gilt show. The Champion and Reserve Champion Druoc went to Hayven Byers and Dillon Leary. Champion and Reserve Champion Poland went to Jolie Johnson and Ada Kunkle. Champion and Reserve Champion Yorkshire went to Aubrey Killey. Champion Berk went to Wyatt Michael.
The Champion Crossbred gilt was exhibited by Aubrey Killey, and the Reserve by Wyatt Michael.
Killey Wins Overall Champion Gilt
After the champions of the purebreds and crossbreds were chosen, the champions returned to the ring for selection for the Overall Champion Gilt. Aubrey Killey and her crossbred gilt won Overall Champion Gilt, and Wyatt Michael and his Berk won Reserve Overall Champion Gilt.
