A retired State Police Officer has launched his Republican campaign for the Illinois 36th State Senate District currently held by Democratic incumbent Mike Halpin.  Brad Beekman made his way around West Central Illinois last week sharing his experience in law enforcement, banking and agriculture:

“I was raised in Astoria and went to college at Western, majored in Law Enforcement, and went to work for the Illinois State Police. I enjoyed 28 years of law enforcement.”

Beekman says the timing is appropriate to run for office and he wants to find real solutions to help the state of Illinois:

“Building relationships; I would like to do that on both sides of the parties, and really dig into the issues that we have and find real solutions so that we can work together. A term that I have become familiar with is infighting within the political parties. I know that can be within a party, but then we also have the competitiveness between the two parties and I just want to find real solutions, regardless of who brings that to the table; solutions that can get our state back to a respectable area and our economy and just really solve some problems.”

Beekman served 28 years in law enforcement as a State Police Master Sergeant, is a graduate of Western Illinois University, works at a small bank in Bushnell and farms part time.
