Bridgeway is a vital resource for the local communities, offering a wide range of supportive programs. One of those is the Mobile Crisis Response program. This specialized service provides on-site crisis evaluations for individuals experiencing mental health emergencies across Henry, Knox, Warren, and Henderson counties in Illinois. Kristin Lewis, Mobile Crisis Response Team Lead, shares more details about this program.
“We have our engagement specialists that do the peer support, and they’re are people with lived experience with the mental health crisis and substance use disorder, like myself, and they’re able to go in with us to the evaluations and just kind of touch base with who’s ever in crisis and let them know, hey, I’ve been where you are, and also I’m going to be the person touching base with you after this is all said and done. Again, it’s kind of making it a lot less scary if you know, it’s not just some phone call that you’re getting and putting a face to the name and just making a lot more human. And they can really sit with them and guide them along that process of like getting into whatever service, they’re comfortable with getting them to therapy or psychiatry.”
