Starting this fall semester, Sandburg is launching their ‘Charge Forward’ program, designed for non-traditional students returning to gain an associate’s degree in the arts or sciences, explains President Dr. Seamus Reilly:
“We evaluated our folks who are over the age of 25, so adults who are in the workforce that maybe started at Sandburg a number of years ago but never completed. We found that we had 17,000 people that fell in that category. We started a program called ‘Charge Forward.’ This program was designed for folks who are coming back to school. This will be on Tuesday nights. It will be a hybrid format, so it will be online and face-to-face. We have designed it in eight-week sections, so somebody can come in and take courses in eight weeks. The program is designed that you will finish in two years. You know the classes are always going to be on Tuesdays. It is a cohort model, which means you will come in with a class that lends peer support for folks that are going through the program. We have designed it in such a way that no matter where you are, or the number of credits you’ve earned, you will be able to get done in two years.”
Sandburg’s ‘Charge Forward’ program allows more one-on-one attention from instructors for students, while also having access to academic advising, financial aid, disability support, and student life events and leadership opportunities.
