The Chicago Cubs are bolstering their pitching staff. The team traded for Mike Soroka and Andrew Kittredge on Wednesday. Soroka spent the first half of the season with Washington. He’s 3-and-8 with a 4.87 ERA in 16 starts this season. Kittredge comes over from the Orioles, where he went 2-and-2 with a 3.56 ERA in 30 appearances out of the bullpen.
The Chicago Cubs finished reloading their roster by making a pair of trades ahead of the MLB trade deadline on Thursday. The Northsiders acquired Twins utility man Willi Castro, who was an All-Star in 2024. Chicago sent pitching prospects Ryan Gallagher and Sam Armstrong to Minnesota to complete the deal. The Cubs also sent outfield prospect Ivan Brethowr in a trade that brought Taylor Rogers to Chicago. Rogers was an All-Star in 2021. He’s 2-and-2 with a 2.45 ERA in 40 games this season. The new-look Cubs host the Baltimore Orioles for a 3-game set starting on Friday afternoon.
