The prestigious United Red Storm Hall of Fame will be getting a new addition this year. United Athletic Director Jeremy Sharp shares the details for the ceremony as well as this year’s inductee.

“We have our Hall of Fame coming up on August 29th, our inductee this year is Mr. Jeff Whitsitt, former superintendent at United. Which many people know that name around here, and it’s kind of a household name when you talk about United. We’ve been trying for a couple years, like hey, we got to get him in. It’s time for us to get him in there.”

Jeff Whitsitt began his career in 1991 at ROWVA High School and started his coaching career after growing up in Knoxville. He graduated from Illinois State University with a teaching degree and earned his master’s in education and administration from Western Illinois University. In 1998, Whitsitt became the Principal of Alexis Jr./Sr. High School and coached girls’ basketball for four years, winning a regional championship in 2000. In 2004, he was named the Superintendent for the United Red Storm District 304 — the first hired after the consolidation of Alexis and Warren schools, with Yorkwood joining the following year. Over his tenure, Whitsitt and his wife Kelley raised four sons in the district.

The ceremony will take place at the Red Storm’s football season opener on August 29th against ROWVA-Williamsfield.
