The BTC Building in Monmouth, which was formerly being utilized by Cedar Creek Kennels for law enforcement dog training, has been purchased by local business owners Byron and Jason Robbins. With five floors of square footage to work with, Bryon, who is also an owner of Robbins Resource Management and Plastic Pallet Pros, shares the vision for the Business Technology Center:
“We are located at 100 South Main in the old Wells Fargo bank building, and we have already outgrown that building and we bought another building about a half a block away. What we are wanting to do is get back under one roof, eventually. So, we purchased the BTC Building. Forty years ago, was when that building actually opened as the BTC. It was designed as an incubator to be able to help businesses get started and grow,” states Robbins.
“What we are wanting to do with that building is grow into it. One section would have over 75 offices. The interior was in really good shape. The plumbing is all intact. The electrical is all intact. The BTC Building, which we are not sure what we are going to call in yet, it will probably be something like “Commons,” but we want to be able to offer for people to have office space, possibility of light manufacturing in the buildings next door, and then be able to, working with MCAP, look at businesses that maybe are operating out of their home right now and they want to move into more of an office setting, maybe they are to the point they want to hire employees, or maybe they are at the point they need some other services. We want to be able to offer some of those things through that building,” Robbins adds.
The Business Technology Center, which is located at 620 South Main Street, first opened for operation in 1985.
