Through Ameren Illinois’ Right Tree Right Place grant program, funds are available to assist municipalities with planting trees on public owned properties, explains Manager of Vegetation Management Rick Johnson:
“This program provides money and assistance to municipalities that want to plant trees on any public ground. It is just an incredible grant opportunity. There are opportunities to provide maintenance to existing trees, communities can develop a community-wide tree management plan, and they can work to obtain a Tree City USA certification, which a lot of municipalities like to do. I encourage everyone in a leadership role in a municipality to take a look at Amerenillinois.com/grants.
Each municipality may submit one grant per year. Applications are open April through August yearly with funds being awarded in November.
