Sandburg Men’s Golf Team Tees Up 2025-26 Season

The Sandburg men’s golf team has its sights on yet another appearance at the national tournament as it heads into the 2025-26 season.

The Chargers, who open their fall schedule at the Duane Chanay Invite on Monday at Oakwood in Coal Valley, have advanced an individual or qualified as a team for the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship in 13 straight years and 17 times in the last 18 seasons.

Sandburg, led by coach Ryan Twaddle, has four tournaments on its fall schedule, including the Arrowhead Conference Championship. The Chargers’ spring slate will feature the Region 4 tournament as well as the Midwest District Championship, which is their national qualifying event.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Tanner Wake, sophomore (Elmwood, Ill./Elmwood)

  • Tied for eighth at last season’s Midwest District Championship, earning a bid to the national tournament.
  • Finished 109th at nationals, highlighted by rounds of 77 and 79 in the middle 36 holes.
  • Tied for sixth at last year’s Arrowhead Conference Championship to earn a spot on the all-conference team.

Kenny Hoosen, sophomore (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria)

  • Shot a 1-under-par 71 and placed second at the Sauk Spring Invite as a freshman.

Cooper Hansen, sophomore (Pekin, Ill./Delavan)

  • Carded a season-best 78 in the first round of the Fighting Scot Fall Invite last year.

  • Blake Harvey, freshman (Mahomet, Ill./Mahomet-Seymour)
