United Red Storm Athletics are off to a blazing start this fall. The Red Storm golf teams have had a busy week. On Tuesday, the boys traveled to Milan to face Alleman in a duel, coming away with a 172-177 win. The very next day, they competed at the Rebel Invite at Midland Golf Club, placing 6th out of 12 teams. Aiden Martin led the way with a 4th-place finish after carding an 80.

On the girls’ side, United hosted its annual Red Storm Invite on Tuesday, topping a field of 13 teams and winning by a commanding 36 strokes over second-place Illini West. Meredith Yung, Paige Christianson, and Jalyn Wallace all finished in the top 10. At Wednesday’s Rebel Invite at Midland, the girls once again came out on top with a team score of 355, highlighted by four players placing in the top 10.

United volleyball opened its season Tuesday night at home against West Prairie in a tightly contested three-set match. The Red Storm won the first set 25-23 but dropped the next two 20-25 and 21-25. They’ll be back in action tonight, hosting ROWVA/Williamsfield in their first Lincoln Trail Conference match of the season.

The Red Storm cross country team also got their season underway with a trip to Farmington on Monday. Athletic Director Jeremy Sharp recaps their night:

The Red Storm host ROWVA/Williamsfield tomorrow night at 7 p.m. It will be Hall of Fame Night, featuring the induction of former Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt into the United Sports Hall of Fame at halftime.
