As the team at Freedom Ride Animal Rescue is transporting animals to no-kill rescues, they are noticing many of those shelters are at capacity and adoptions are in great need. Founder Phil Cooper explains the situation is partly due to today’s economy:
“I think it is getting better, but gas is still well over three dollars a gallon, groceries are still extremely expensive, the cost of living is just high, and unfortunately when many people are backed into a corner, they are forced to make the difficult decision of surrendering their animals. Our mission, of course, is to help facilitate with that, just to make sure that they are in safe shelters.”
Since the start of Freedom Ride Animal Rescue in the summer of 2022, 563 animals have been saved by transport and rescue placement by the team of volunteers.
