Carrying on the tradition of caring for and serving families in Henderson County, Mark Thomas and his wife Tricia, both of Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory in Galesburg, have purchased Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka. With John Turnbull wishing to retire this year and the team at Watson-Thomas assisting with services for quite some time now, Mark shares the transition seemed fitting:

“My wife Tricia and I got in partnership with John Turnbull in Monmouth and, of course, he had a satellite chapel in Oquawka. We partnered with John and purchased the Oquawka funeral home. As most folks now know, he is turning the Monmouth funeral home into a Heritage Museum, but he wanted the Oquawka Chapel to carry on. I have known John for a long time and the partnership just seemed fitting, we both get along well and have the same vision of taking care of families and it just seemed fitting. My wife and I have a cabin down there and we love the little town of Oquawka and we are really excited to be carrying on the tradition.”

Thomas has been in the Galesburg community since 1998, where he worked for John Watson. Then in 2009 Thomas and his wife Tricia purchased Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory.
