Becky Dawn Rogers, age 67, of Colorado, formerly of Wataga, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2025, after a long and courageous, eleven-year battle with lung cancer.

Becky was born on October 7, 1957, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Don and Ethlyn (Meeker) Whitcomb. She married Curt Griffith and later married George Rogers. She grew up in Illinois, attending Alexis High School, and later earned her associate degree as a Computer Networking Specialist from Carl Sandburg College.

For more than 20 years, Becky made her home in Colorado with her significant other, Richard Tracy. Over the years, she worked in a variety of roles that reflected her strong work ethic and caring spirit, including Wilkinson’s Office Supplies, Knox Office Supplies, Roger Brothers Wholesale, and Jimmy’s Pizza, among others.

She will be remembered for her resilience, warmth, and selfless nature. Becky never knew a stranger and was always putting others before herself. She loved keeping active and going on walks, and she found joy in nature, the mountains, and the beach. After moving to Colorado, she became a devoted Denver Broncos fan. She also had a deep love for animals, especially her “fur babies,” Shadow and Cody. She never forgot her beloved cat Smokey, who passed away after serving faithfully as her “nurse” during her first round of chemo, curling up by her head each night after she lost her hair to keep her warm.

Becky was incredibly talented with her hands. She could crochet anything and also loved embroidery and sewing. But of all her passions, what she cherished most was her family. She adored her children and “grandbabies,” and never missed a chance to tell others just how proud she was of all of them.

Becky is survived by her significant other, Richard Tracy of Colorado; her son, Dustin Griffith (Charlotte Shumaker) of Williamsfield, IL; her daughter, Angie McCarthy (Curly) of Cameron, IL; brothers Gary Whitcomb of North Henderson, IL, and Danny Whitcomb (Valerie Roberts) of Bushnell, IL; grandchildren Max and Molly McCarthy of Cameron, IL; along with many other beloved family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Ethlyn (Meeker) Whitcomb; husband, George Rogers; sister-in-law, Shannon Whitcomb; and grandson, Tyson Twitchel.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Coldbrook Christian Church, 1428 IL-164, Cameron, IL, with Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating. Per her wishes, Becky has been cremated, and her final resting place will be determined at a later date. Memorials may be made to Coldbrook Christian Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Becky’s strength, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com
