It’s week 4 of the high school football season and while the United Red Storm football team has gotten off to a slow (0-3) start to their 2025 campaign, they hope to flip their fortunes. as they host a familiar foe tonight, the Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes. The two LincolnLand Small-School Division teams will both be seeking their first victory, as each enter the contest winless on the season. United head coach Andrew Goodwin explains that the Red Storm are not talking about winning the game, rather challenging his players to win every play. This week in practice, Goodwin put a major emphasis on doing the little things that can make a huge difference in a rivalry game.
The Red Storm host Abingdon-Avon High tonight and the Prairie Communications Sports Network will have all the action for you on AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM and live online at radiomonmouth.com. The pregame show will be live at 6:30, as kickoff follows at 7:00. The United FFA is putting on a Hog Roast before the game in commons area of the United Fieldhouse. For a mere $5 fans can get a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, chips, dessert and a drink. To-go meals are also available.
It is Homecoming Week for Monmouth-Roseville High School. The Titans are coming off a huge win last Friday, beating TRAC West Division rival Kewanee, 55-7. That win moves the Titans to (3-0) on the season. Tonight, Monmouth-Roseville will host the Mendota Trojans for their homecoming festivities. The Trojans are (0-3) overall. This one feels a little like déjà vu, as these two teams faced off in week 4 last year, as well, with the same records. Still, a new year brings new players and new game plans. Titan Head Coach Jeremy Adolphson says this isn’t the same Mendota team they faced in 2024.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be live on Sunny 97.7 or on our website radiomonmouth.com with pregame starting at 6:30. The 2025 Monmouth-Roseville homecoming court will be announced before the game, with the band, Titan Twirlers and Cheerleaders performing at halftime. The 2025 Monmouth-Roseville Education Foundation’s Hall of Achievement Honorees will be recognized at the half, as well.
