With Fiscal Year 2025 coming to an end on October 1st for the Jamieson Community Center, Executive Director Nancy Mowen reports both the food pantry and senior nutrition have seen significant increases the past few months:

“Our routes are going strong. Those calls continue to come in. We are working hard to be able to accommodate everyone, but at some point we probably will need to look at a waiting list. We do have a little bit of additional funding from the state for the 2026 Fiscal Year, but costs have gone up. So, most of the increase in funding is going to be absorbed by the increase in our costs,” states Mowen.

“We had nearly 600 visits in July and August, each month. That is just an incredible increase over what we have seen in the past years. Through the pantry just this year, we have served 870 families and we are not done with the year. We have at least 25 percent of those families are first time visitors this year,” Mowen says.

Additionally, 200 kindergarten through eighth grade students received back to school supplies from Jamieson Community Center’s STARS Program, which is made possible by Community National Bank, area churches, volunteers, and local donations from businesses, organizations, and individuals.
