The Monmouth City Council has approved the sale of the former fire station and public safety building at 600 South Main Street to Quality Roofing Pro. As part of the agreement, the City will receive the property at 413 South Main Street, explains City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher:
“We had a purchase agreement with Quality Roofing Pro to purchase the old public safety building at 600 South Main Street. The appraised value on that property was $68,500. In exchange, the City will acquire 413 South Main Street, which is directly across from the police department. This is necessary because the City needs a place to store impounded vehicles, as well as, secure storage for evidence. There would be a $40,000 credit against that purchase price for us to exchange those properties. Then, because the old public safety building does not have its’ own electrical supply, there was an additional $20,000 credit to allow for the electrical system to be actually wired into the building.”
The next Monmouth City Council meeting will be held Monday, October 6th at six o’clock inside City Hall.
