On September 1, 2025, at approximately 6:50 PM, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a traffic accident involving a train and a pickup truck in the 200 block of Knox Highway 5, rural Knox County.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the pickup truck had struck a train at the crossing. The driver of the pickup sustained serious injuries and was transported from the scene by emergency medical personnel for treatment.
Emergency units responded and provided assistance.
This incident remains under investigation by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jack C. Harlan Jr. reminds all motorists to use caution when approaching railroad crossings and to never assume a track is clear.
