Galesburg Fire Crews Battle Structure Fire

The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 63 Sumner St the morning of, October 14, 2025, at 2:30 AM. The response included all three fire stations and the 10 personnel on duty. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered flames coming from the east exterior side of the structure. Battalion Chief Matt Cain established command, and the Brooks and Central Station crews extinguished most of the flames from the exterior while simultaneously searching the interior of the structure. No occupants or pets were found within the structure, and no injuries were reported.

An emergency callback of off-duty personnel, with mutual aid assistance from the Knoxville Fire Department, was initiated to provide emergency coverage for the city. Galesburg Fire Department Investigators are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
