With open enrollment for Medicare right around the corner, Strom Center Executive Director Carol McCrery reminds those 65 and older in the local community to get their yellow medication forms completed and turned in and get on the list for a review as more changes are coming:

“Last year there were 16 Medicare D plans and this year there are only going to be 12. People really need to get in and do reviews because if the plan you are in this year is not available next year, Medicare will assign you a plan,” states McCrery.

“In 2026, the premiums will be zero to $119.70, so that is a big wide range in costs per month. The deductibles are going to raise a little bit from $590 to around $615. What we really are trying to encourage people to do is to come in and see if they are eligible for our programs called ‘Extra Help.’ That extra help will help pay for premiums, deductibles, and any high-cost drugs. Plus, what was new this year that we hope people will take advantage of next year with the Medicare D plans, there is a Medicare prescription payment plan,” McCrery adds.
