State Senator Neil Anderson (R-Andalusia) issued the following statement following the passage of the controversial, so-called “Energy Omnibus Bill”:
“Once again, downstate Illinois families are being ignored. This legislation gives unchecked power to unelected bureaucrats, eliminates energy cap protections, and forces taxpayers to fund unproven experimental battery projects near people’s homes. While lifting the ban on new nuclear reactors is a positive step, it is overshadowed by the bill’s broader agenda, which prioritizes radical green policies over affordable, safe, and reliable energy.
Illinoisans will continue to face rising energy prices until we take two critical steps: stop subsidizing inefficient wind and solar projects and reopen coal and natural gas power plants while building more nuclear facilities. Our families deserve leaders who put affordability, safety, and common sense before ideology.”
