United hosts Rushville/Industry for Homecoming, while Mon-Rose is on the Road at Sherrard Looking to Secure a Postseason Football Berth

According to United Red Storm football head coach Andrew Goodwin, his team is coming off maybe its best effort of the season last Friday. At the final horn, the scoreboard read 49-22 in favor of the Stark County Rebels but the Red Storm only trailed by one score twice in the second half. United finally found some rhythym in its running game, having two backs rush for at least 100 yards. Quarterback Kellen Boone led the way with 127 yards and Chance Stewart added 100 of his own. Coach Goodwin said the effort was great and should build confidence going forward.

The Red Storm are enjoying Homecoming Week and will host a tough (3-2) Rushville/Industry Rocket squad tonight at United High School. Kickoff is set for 7:00, so our AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM pregame show will hit the air at 6:30.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan football squad is also, arguably, coming off its best effort of the season after dominating perennial power Princeton on the Tiger’s homecoming game in week 5. The Titans defeated Princeton for the second straight season by 28 points. This time around it was a 36-8 final score. The Titans rushed for 350 total yards against the Tigers led by Nick Huston’s 157 yard, two touchdown night. Landon Montroy was also over 100 yards, with 127 of his own and two more rushing scores. It was the Monmouth-Roseville defense that did the damage, limiting a normally strong Princeton ground game to 25 total yards for the game. Titan head coach Jeremy Adolphson says being strong on both offense and defense has worked well in their strong (5-0) start to the season but will have to continue if they want to make a long postseason run.

The Titans hit the road to Sherrard High School tonight for a TRAC Mississippi Division match up. Monmouth-Roseville is tied atop the division standings with the Spring Valley Hall/Putnam County Red Devils co-op at (3-0). The Red Devils are hosting a, now, desperate Princeton Tiger ballclub tonight. We’ll have the Monmouth-Roseville/Sherrard game tonight on Sunny 97.7 WMOI, with the pregame show starting at 6:30. Kickoff is at 7:00. You can hear the game on the radio, live online at radiomonmouth.com or on our free 1330 WRAM or 97.7 WMOI apps for your smartphone or tablet.
