Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 12th, 2025:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior boys football player, Nick Huston. Nick had one of the best games in Titan football history in a TRAC West Division championship clinching win over the Hall/Putnam County co-op. He ran for a school record 282 yards, scoring five total touchdowns by way of three rushing, one receiving and even threw for one more. Nick also had 12 total tackles on defense, with three of those for losses.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Nolan Jenks. Nolan was a big part of the Red Storm’s first win of the season. He rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown. Nolan also caught two passes for 77 yards, which included a 58 yard touchdown, and made several big plays on defense.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore volleyball player, Rylie Ferguson. The Heat won six of eight matches played last week and Rylie was an important part of that success. She handed out an amazing total of 144 assists during that stretch, averaging 18 per match. Rylie also contributed in other ways, hustling her way to 42 digs and eight kills.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball players, Grace and Taylor Herchenroder. The sisters combined their talents to help the Streaks to a (4-0) record at the Dixon Invitational. Grace led the team in digs with 50 for the day and also included six service aces in a win against Naperville Central. Taylor handed a team-high 38 assists in the four matches.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys cross country runner, James Shuey. James found a spot on the Lincoln Trail Conference all-conference team by placing 9th at the conference championship meet at Midland Golf Course. He was even faster at the Delavan Invitational. James ran a school record time of 16:34 in his 30th place finish out of 74 total runners.
