Over 700 meals are expected to be served during the Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Monmouth American Legion, Thursday, November 27th. Volunteer Scott McClintock informs the yearly tradition has been a part of the community for over 30 years:

“The Community Thanksgiving Dinner has been going on for about 30 years. There have been a number of different people involved in ensuring that it continues on. The original couple that started it moved away approximately 15 years ago or so. Then there was a group from Faith United Presbyterian Church that spearheaded it and now it is Highpoint Church that is spearheading this. It is just a time to come out to the American Legion and have some fellowship with other members of the community and if you can’t make it there, we will make it to you.”

If you would like to have Thanksgiving meals delivered, call or text 309-715-7153, which will be taken through November 26th. Delivery of the meals on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 27th will begin at 11:30 am. Dine-in at the Legion is from noon to 1:30 pm, with carry-outs also available starting at noon.
