Mr. Daniel Boone, 83, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly at 5:30 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.

He was born April 28, 1942, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, the son of Raymond E. and Opal Edna (Beal) Boone.

Surviving are two daughters, Anne (Dale) Littrel of Aledo, Illinois, and Susan (Scott) Hoover of Frankfort, Illinois; a sister, Elaine Newell of Metamora, Illinois; two granddaughters, Nikki (Bryce) Holmes and Andrea Hoover; and three great-grandchildren, Carson Holmes, Brady Holmes, and Garrett Holmes. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard Boone, Charles Boone, and Gale Boone; and a brother-in-law, Dewey Newell.

Daniel graduated from Bradford High School in 1960. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966. Over the years, he worked as an engineer for Hyster Company in Kewanee, Illinois, Kress Corporation in Brimfield, Illinois, and later retired from the Toyota Plant in Tennessee.

He was a member of Remnant Bible Church in Galesburg and an active participant at the Wataga Senior Center, where he was known for baking cakes for social events. Daniel was truly a “Jack of All Trades” — meticulous in everything he did. A skilled craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking, remodeling homes, and restoring antique cars. He loved country music, played guitar, and followed many sporting events, especially NASCAR. Above all, he cherished time spent watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s games and activities. Up until his final days, he remained active at Planet Fitness in Galesburg, where he enjoyed both exercise and good conversation.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel with Pastor Rick Warren officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Knox County Honor Guard at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.
