Four Arrested, 17 Stolen Firearms Recovered

AFO (Felony Around and Find Out) Team Strikes Again

Recovered: 17 Stolen Firearms • Multiple Arrests Made

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is announcing major progress in the investigation of a rural Victoria burglary involving a forcibly opened gun safe and numerous stolen firearms.

Thanks to fast, coordinated investigative work, deputies have now recovered:

🔹 17 stolen firearms

🔹 A Ten Point crossbow

🔹 Ammunition & other stolen property

These items were located during a court-authorized search warrant executed on November 3, 2025, at 303 Mattison Street, East Galesburg, where the firearms were hidden in attic insulation.

🔹 ARRESTS & CHARGES

The following individuals have been charged in connection with this case:

Maurice R. Gryp (alias name Willie J Kelso), 47, Galesburg

• Aggravated Possession of a Stolen Firearm (Class X Felony)

• Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 2 Felony)

• Burglary (Class 2 Felony)

• Theft (Class 2 Felony)

Dallas L. Charles, 51, East Galesburg

• Aggravated Possession of a Stolen Firearm (Class X Felony)

• Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 2 Felony)

• Burglary (Class 2 Felony)

• Theft (Class 2 Felony)

Rodney D. Smith, 63, Galesburg

• Aggravated Possession of a Stolen Firearm (Class X Felony)

• Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 2 Felony)

• Burglary (Class 2 Felony)

• Theft (Class 2 Felony)

Cory B. Tucker, 42, Williamsfield

• Conspiracy to Commit Burglary (Class 2 Felony)

• Theft – Knox County Warrant (Class 3 Felony)

• Possession of Methamphetamine (Class 3 Felony)
