Living in the Midwest, snow is bound to fall from the sky at some point during the winter season. Taking the steps to plan ahead now could prevent you from being cold and stuck in the snow, states Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer:

“Keep your vehicles gassed up all the time. Don’t let it get down to a quarter of a tank or less. If you get stuck in a snowstorm, that is not going to help you out much. Throw some food and water in your car that can stay for a long period of time, a blanket or two, extra coat, boots, a small shovel you can throw in your trunk; whatever you are going to need if you do get stuck to stay warm until someone can come get you out.”

November 10th through 14th is Winter Weather Preparedness Week in Illinois.
