The local community is still processing the shocking news that Galesburg 7th grade teacher and junior high boys basketball coach and former Monmouth-Roseville High School teacher and varsity baseball coach, Jordan Ball has passed away following a tragic car accident on US Highway 34 near Wataga on Monday afternoon. A statement put out on Facebook by Galesburg Junior/Senior High School said, “It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dedicated 7th-grade teacher and coach, Jordan Ball. He was a caring educator who touched the lives of countless students at Galesburg Junior Senior High School. We extend our deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time. ROE #33’s School Crisis Response Team is available in the library throughout the day to support students, parents, and staff.”

Monmouth-Roseville High School Athletic Director, Jeremy Adolphson says, “Coach Ball was an extremely dedicated coach and teacher at MRHS from 2021- 2024.  He did a great job transitioning from playing at Monmouth College one spring, then becoming our head baseball coach the next.  He was extremely competitive with a clear passion for baseball and his players.  I feel for his family, friends and all who worked alongside Coach Ball.”

After a successful All-Conference playing career at Monmouth College, Ball spent three seasons as the varsity head baseball coach at Monmouth-Roseville from 2022-2024, winning 37 games and taking the Titans to a regional championship game appearance in the spring of 2024. Ball, just short of his 27th birthday, leaves behind a loving wife, Alex, nearly 2-year old son, Atticus and another child expected to be born in April.
