After being picked in the Midwest Conference preseason coaches poll to win the conference, the Monmouth College Fighting Scots men’s basketball team is off to a hot start. The Scots have opened the 2025-26 campaign at 6-2 with a perfect 2-0 record in Midwest Conference play. Monmouth opened league play last Wednesday with a strong home win over another one of the top teams in the Midwest Conference, in Illinois College. The Scots followed that up with a short road trip to Knox College on Saturday, battling through a scrappy rivalry game and pulling out a 71-64 win.
With hopes of securing the Midwest Conference regular season title and the number one seed in the conference tournament again this season, Head Coach Todd Skrivseth says this is a big victory early in the season.
The Scots will have one more Midwest Conference game this Saturday when they host Lawrence, before a long three-week break from conference play, in which they will host four non-conference games at Glennie Gym.
