The City of Monmouth is alerting Monmouth residents that a SNOW EMERGENCY will be in effect for 12PM MONDAY DECEMBER 1, 2025, UNTIL 6PM MONDAY DECEMBER 1, 2025. ANY VEHICLES PARKED ON A “SNOW EMERGENCY” ROUTE NEED TO BE MOVED OFF THE ROUTE. This will help facilitate snow plowing and removal on Snow Emergency Streets.
According to the National Weather Service and local news forecasts, possible snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches could fall beginning Monday morning continuing into Monday afternoon. At times half an inch of snow could fall per hour. This snow event could be accompanied by high winds and blowing snow.
This announcement is being issued to remind the community that any vehicles parked on designated snow routes during the Snow Emergency WILL BE TICKETED.
SNOWFALL AMOUNTS AND TIME SPAN PREDICTIONS ARE TAKEN FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND LOCAL WEATHER FORECASTS.
BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES…AND USECAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

- A winter weather advisory will be in effect today for portions of the area for accumulating light snow. Slick travel will be possible during the evening commute.
- This snow will be dry and fluffy in nature and winds should also be light making for easier snow removal.
- Snowfall totals between 1-4 inches are forecast, with the highest amounts across southeast IA, west central IL, and northeast MO.
