Now that snow has fallen, City of Monmouth Mayor Rod Davies provides an update on the West Harlem Avenue project and what can be expected throughout the winter months:
“We have the engineers on site from the Illinois Department of Transportation, and we have our own engineers out there from IMEG that oversee the project. I think there was 110 construction days in that project, and I think we have used 52 or 53 that have been charged to that contract. They are working and we were hoping to do some of the work above ground before now, but the state has been very insistent that all underground has to be done first. They have been getting the storm sewer in and were hoping to get that lane covered up and have some temporary blacktop on the westbound lane before the weather, but they are going to continue to do what they can.”
West Harlem Avenue is expected to remain a one-way roadway through the winter.
